After about a month of reading blogs, online forums and massive reviews I purchased this set. The number one priority was gaming. I play lots of high motion reaction driven games, fighers, rock band, and shooters. Without getting into the dirty details of video lag, I chose this set because it was one of the fastest. Even tho its not in the description this tv has a 2.6ms response rate. When setup properly there was almost no recorded lag on this tv. It came down between the non 120hz version of this tv and this one. I decided on this one because I do occasionally watch tv and perfer compensation for motion artifacts. In the options it allows you to set it for, OFF, LOW and HIGH. I absolutly love the menu interface for this tv. Its very intuitive and is visually appealing. When changing channels thru the integrated tuner it was one of the fastest I have come across in quite a while.
Overall this is a terrific set and you cant beat the price. If you looking for a gaming set seriously consider this one! If you dont believe me do the research yourself.

This is my first LCD tv. The picture is excellent, also the sound and is too easy to set up. LG rules, and that price is hard to beat it. I will recommend it to everybody!

LOL! Seriously, I can’t believe what I am seeing — Everything.
My old RCA CRT 36" dinosaur, 300lb TV was making me think that I was going blind. With standard cable input, I can now read the top of the screen banner showing the team/score/downs/yards-2-go/quarter/time-left with no problem.
This is the new, the great, the must have,,, and the price is dropping as I type this. I don’t care that I missed saving a few bucks, as I can now enjoy the games.

The LG 42lh40 is an amazing television and can’t be beat for the Amazon price.
Pros: It was really easy to set up and finding the channels was automatic. The picture out of the box is stunning but it also allows you to change the image via a very intuitive Picture Wizard. The sound is really nice and loud even at low settings. The 120hz makes everything very smooth though there are some artifacts on the high setting (I use it for everything except Blu-ray movies).
Cons: The menu is easy to navigate but some of the features should have been a remote button.
Notes: This is my first HDTV and a huge step up from my 28" Zenith which I have been using for the past 15 years. I play PS3 games and the picture on this television is so incredible on my games that it’s like I got a new game system.
